ASTROLOGICAL ASSOCIATION The Moon is the heavenly body attributed to this Arcana. We may see it as the antithesis of the sun which represents the plenitude and consciousness of life, all that which shines from its own light. The moon is a symbol of childhood, of hidden things, of the unconscious, and of illusion. It is associated with mobility, flexibility, and changes, due to the quickness with which it spans the Zodiac. The Moon reigns over fertility and growth, all that is cyclical and floating, the element Water, all of the aquatic beings, and the nocturnal animals. Its relationship with the woman is very important, for it is intimately linked with the menstrual cycle, gestation, and childbearing. The Moon represents the people and is connected with the primordial, the atavistic, rituals, and magic. She is home to our deepest sentiments and emotions. She reigns over our imagination, our sensitivity, our ability to impress, our dreams, and our receptiveness. Together with Mercury, she governs our memory, and with Mars, our instincts. The Moon creates a strong attachment to the past, the mother, the home, and domestic activities.
